Organize local files with an undo list
Ask Olyvr to tidy a folder on your computer. It proposes where each file should go, moves only what you approve, and keeps the list of moves so you can reverse them.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- The Filesystem plugin, connected. It can only reach one folder, set at the end of its command. Change that path to the folder you want to organize before you connect.
- Approvals left on Ask for approval while you try this. See approvals.
Ask Olyvr
Section titled “Ask Olyvr”Organize my Downloads/Invoices folder into Reports, Notes and Other. Show me the moves before you do anything.
What Olyvr does
Section titled “What Olyvr does”- Lists the files it can reach in the folder.
- Proposes a move list: each file, where it goes, and which files stay where they are.
- Points out name clashes, for example two files called
summary.pdf, and asks how to handle each one before anything moves. - Asks you to approve each move, showing the source and destination.
- Moves the files, then lists the folder again to confirm where everything ended up.
- Keeps the final move list in the chat so you can ask for it to be reversed.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Every approved file is in its new folder, and each appears only once.
- No existing file was overwritten.
- Files you didn’t approve are where they were.
- Open a couple of moved files to make sure they still open normally.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- A file is outside the folder. The plugin can’t reach anything outside its configured folder, including shortcuts that point elsewhere.
- A move fails partway. Ask Olyvr which moves completed. Moves that already happened stay in place until you reverse them.
- Undoing after further changes. If you’ve added or edited files since, ask Olyvr to check for clashes before moving anything back.
