Test a checkout flow under failures

Olyvr drives a real browser through your checkout, from cart to confirmation, and reports how it handles bad input and a failed payment.

  • The Playwright plugin connected.
  • The address of a test checkout site, with its test card numbers or payment simulator.
  • A way to see orders and stock on that site, so you can check the outcome.

Test the checkout on staging.example.com from cart to confirmation. Try an invalid address, then a declined test card, then a valid retry. Use only the test cards from the payment provider. Repeat at a phone screen size.

  1. Opens the site, adds an item, and checks the cart total.
  2. Enters an invalid address and notes the error messages and where focus goes.
  3. Submits a declined test card and checks that what you typed is still there.
  4. Shows you the valid retry and asks you to approve the submit.
  5. Reads the confirmation page and repeats the flow at a smaller screen size.
  6. Reports what happened at each step.
  • The declined payment created no paid order.
  • The retry created exactly one order, and stock went down once.
  • The totals in the cart and on the confirmation page agree.
  • Confirm this in the site’s order list.
  • The page stops responding after Pay: check the order list before asking Olyvr to try again, so you don’t place a second order.
  • Item out of stock: reset the test stock and run the flow again.
  • Approval prompts for every click: that’s expected in the default mode. See Approvals for other modes, and use them only on a test site.
