Add or update an RSVP in Airtable

Olyvr can record an RSVP in your Airtable base. It looks for an existing row for that person and event first, then either updates it or adds a new one.

  • The Airtable plugin, connected and signed in. Your Airtable permissions for the base apply.
  • A table where each RSVP has the event and the attendee’s email.

Record Maya’s RSVP as Yes for Launch Night in our Events base. Update her existing RSVP if there is one.

  1. Finds the base, the table and the event.
  2. Searches for a row with that event and Maya’s email, ignoring differences in capitals and spaces.
  3. Shows whether it will create a new row or update an existing one. For an update, it shows the field that changes from the old value to the new one.
  4. Asks you to approve, then writes the change.
  5. Searches again to confirm there is exactly one RSVP for Maya at that event.
  • Open the table in Airtable. There is one row for Maya at Launch Night, with RSVP set to Yes.
  • Other fields on her row are unchanged.
  • An RSVP she has for a different event is untouched.
  • More than one row already matches. Olyvr shows them and asks which to update rather than picking one.
  • The value isn’t allowed. If the RSVP field only accepts set options, use one of them.
  • A required field is empty. Olyvr asks you for it before creating the row.
