Add Google Sheets rows and plan cell updates
Add a row
Section titled “Add a row”Connect a Google account with edit access to the spreadsheet. Enable the Google Sheets API in the same Google Cloud project as your Google sign-in app.
In google sheet “Olyvr Test” add a row with two values “test” 1
Olyvr opens a form in the right panel showing the spreadsheet, Google account, tab, and a field for each column. Review or edit the values, choose the tab, and click Submit to append the row. Cancel leaves the sheet unchanged. Text and numbers keep their types; values are entered literally, so text beginning with = is not evaluated as a formula.
If several spreadsheets have the same name, provide the Google Sheets URL to identify the file. To use another account, include its email in your request. A failed or timed-out submission is not automatically retried; check the sheet before requesting another row.
Update existing cells and check formulas
Section titled “Update existing cells and check formulas”The workflow below describes planned support for changing existing values and checking dependent totals.
Today you can ask Olyvr to find the row, work out the new total, and tell you which cell to change, then make the edit yourself.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A Google account connected in Memory Data Sources, with access to the spreadsheet.
- A sheet where each row has a stable ID, such as a code in its first column.
- Once available: edit permission on the spreadsheet.
Ask Olyvr
Section titled “Ask Olyvr”In the Q3 Budget sheet, set the planned cost for LAUNCH-01 to 1250 and check the total.
What Olyvr does
Section titled “What Olyvr does”When this is available, Olyvr will:
- Read the sheet and find the row by its ID, not by its position, so sorting doesn’t send the edit to the wrong row.
- Show you the tab name, the cell address, the old value and the new value.
- Wait for your approval.
- Update that one cell and leave formulas alone.
- Read the sheet again and report the recalculated total.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Only the cell you approved changed.
- Formula cells still hold formulas, not fixed numbers.
- The total matches what you expect from the new value.
- The number looks right in your sheet’s number format, for example with a comma as the decimal separator if that’s how your sheet shows numbers.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”These are the cases the planned version is meant to handle:
- The cell is protected: Olyvr reports that it can’t write there instead of changing a different cell.
- Someone sorted or edited the sheet after the preview: Olyvr finds the row again by its ID and asks you to approve the updated change.
