Create and export a Canva announcement

Olyvr can start a new Canva design from one of your templates, fill in the title and date you approve, and export it as an image.

Note

This works through the Canva plugin. What Olyvr can do depends on the tools that plugin’s server offers. Filling a brand template may depend on your Canva plan and on which fields the template exposes.

What you need

• The Canva plugin, connected and signed in to the Canva account that has the template.
• The template name, and the exact text and date you want on it.

Ask Olyvr

Create a launch announcement from our “Product launch” template. Title: “Atlas is here”. Date: 4 November. Then export it as a PNG.

What Olyvr does

1. Finds the template and the account it belongs to.
2. Shows the fields it will fill and the values you gave, and asks for any required value that’s missing.
3. Asks you to approve, then creates a new design from the template. The template itself isn’t changed.
4. Starts the export. While Canva prepares the file, Olyvr shows it as in progress rather than done.
5. Reports when the PNG is ready and where to get it.

Check the result

• Open the new design in Canva and check the title and date match what you approved.
• Open the PNG. Text should be readable and not cut off.
• Open the original template and confirm it is unchanged.

If something goes wrong

• A field is missing from the template. Olyvr asks for it, or tells you the template can’t take it. Add the field in Canva or change your request.
• Fonts look different. Canva may substitute a font your account can’t use. Check the exported image before sharing it.
• The export fails after the design was created. The design still exists. Ask Olyvr to export it again instead of creating a new one.
