Move a Jira issue to a new status
Tell Olyvr which issue to move and where, and it changes the status for you without touching anything else on the issue.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- The Jira plugin installed and signed in to Atlassian. This also signs in the Confluence plugin, since both use the same Atlassian account.
- Permission to transition issues in the project.
Ask Olyvr
Section titled “Ask Olyvr”Move ENG-142 from To Do to In Progress.
What Olyvr does
Section titled “What Olyvr does”- Reads the issue: its site, current status and the moves its workflow allows.
- Shows the plugin tool and its exact arguments for approval, including the site, issue key and target status.
- Moves the issue once you approve.
- Reads the issue again and reports its final status with a link.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”- Open the issue in Jira. It should show the new status.
- Check that no comment or other field was changed, and that similarly named issues are untouched.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Move not allowed: Jira workflows only allow some status changes. Ask Olyvr which moves are available from the current status.
- Required field: some transitions need a field filled in first, such as a resolution. Tell Olyvr the value to use.
- Status changed meanwhile: if someone else moved the issue, ask Olyvr to read it again before you approve a move.
- Wrong site: if you use more than one Atlassian site, name the site in your request.
